The Caribbean Court of Appeal
THE EDITOR, Madam:
As an ordinary Jamaican citizen I have been trying to understand the pros and cons of a Caribbean Court of Appeal but as with most issues in this country, the political hacks of all persuasions seem to cloud the issues rather than clarify.
Those who argue against a Caribbean Court of Appeal should also be arguing for the dissolution of Parliament and the return of the British Colonial Government. Given the dismal track record of governance of successive Govern-ments since Independence, I would think that they should go for the whole hog and revert to a pre-August 6, 1962 situation where the issue of a Caribbean Court of Appeal would not arise.
This situation would, no doubt, make a certain talk show host ecstatic and at the same time redundant because what would he have to talk about?
Maybe the real issue is that, for most of us, our mentality is still in the pre-August 6, 1962 mould.
I am, etc., WAYNE COKE
