Jamaicans among 'Poet of the Year' nominees

Five Jamaicans are among poets from 40 countries nominated for the title of "Poet of the Year 2000" conferred by the International Society of Poets (ISP) based in Maryland, United States.

442 entries for photography contest
Approximately 422 entries were received in this year's Festival Photography Competition organised by the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC). Some 272 prints were submitted, and 152 slides.

Jerked meat comes of age
There was a time when jerked meat was considered the poor man's food in Jamaica. Now this process of marinating meat with exotic Jamaican spices, slowly cooked over a wood fire, has come of age.
