Residents protest slaying of DC

OLD HARBOUR, St. Catherine:

RESIDENTS OF Old Harbour on Wednesday took to the streets demanding that the killer of the 34-year-old district constable Derrick Roberts be held and brought to justice.

The policeman was gunned down on Saturday night in Old Harbour while on duty.

Two of the demonstrators from the business community, Mrs. Merlyn Chin-Loy and Howard Blake, described the policeman as one of the best they had known, who gave much of his time and expertise in fighting crime.

Meanwhile, the Superinten-dent in charge of the Old Harbour Police Station Samuel Anderson said that he was deeply moved by the display of concern for the killing of Roberts.

Member of Parliament for South West St. Catherine Jennifer Edwards has praised the residents on this bold move, and called on the lawmen in Old Harbour to leave no stones unturned to bring the killer to justice.
