Lift Up Jamaica

THE EDITOR, Madam:

I WOULD like to use this medium to indicate to the Lift Up Jamaica Secretariat, Minister Peter Phillips and the Government of Jamaica, the appreciation and thanks of the residents of the Burgher Community for the repairs done under the programme recently. As a community we can attest to the impact and success of the Lift Up Jamaica Programme, and we are extremely grateful.

For years the citizens of the Burgher community have made representations to their political representatives: Member of Parliament and Councillor for repairs to be done to the Burgher Gully. For years we have made representation to the relevant agencies and institutions. For years we had to keep our fingers crossed and say a few words of prayer at the slightest hint of rain.

Many thanks for the patience exhibited by those families who have been washed out or should I say 'mudded out' so many times over the years. A world of thanks for the understanding and confidence shown to us, as representatives, from the members of the Burgher community. Your confidence in our representation has paid off and we, Minister Paulwell and I, genuinely feel humbled and appreciative.

I am, etc.,

ANGELA BROWN

Councillor

Norman Gardens Division

East Kingston & Port Royal
