Richards JAMAICANS Davian Clarke, Astia Walker and Sandie Richards posted wins at the Leverkusen international meet in Germany last night.
Clarke won the men's 400 metres in 45.75 seconds beating Nigeria's Clement Chukwu 45.97 and Iwan Thomas of Britain who was third in 46.19.
Richards took the women's race in 51.24 ahead of American Monique Hennagan who was well behind in 51.81. Walker clocked 12.82 seconds for victory in the women's 100 metres hurdles.
Tayna Lawrence (11.11) and Beverly McDonald (11.22) were second and third respectively in the 100 metres won by Bahamas' Debbie Ferguson in 11.11.
Britain's triple jump world record holder Jonathan Edwards, battling to return to form ahead of the Sydney Olympics, made the best leap in the world this year at the same meet.
Bouncing back from an ankle injury that ruled him out of the British Olympic trials a week ago, Edwards jumped 17.62 metres on his second jump to better the year's previous best, set by Italian Fabrizio Donato in June, by two centimetres. World champion Charles Friedek, competing on his home ground at Leverkusen, took second with 17.14 metres.
