PRODUCER Worrell 'Teacher' Lewis has been receiving several death threats over the upcoming release of his Bus De Place rhythm which features a scathing track by the 'Prophet', Capleton.
"I recorded a song with Capleton on the Bus De Place rhythm earlier this year. I was out by the Safire studio, and I was playing the song. Some deejays heard the Capleton track, and started to comment on it, saying it was a counteraction for this tune and that tune.
"Some of them wanted to be on the rhythm as well but I told them no because the rhythm already had enough artistes on it," Lewis said.
"A few days afterwards, I got a threatening message on my voice mail saying if I released the tune which Capleton had, I 'would get a gunshot'. I never told my family, my mother never liked the idea of me being in the music biz, but I told a police uncle I had but he dismissed it as not being serious, but told me to be careful regardless," Lewis added.
He received the first threat on July 7 and they have continued into this month.
"The threats have continued, and I haven't returned to Safire since. I am fed up. I have invested a lot of time, money and love in this project. I am deeply disturbed that someone is telling me not to release this rhythm which I have been working on so hard, but I will not be intimidated," said the English Language and Literature teacher.
"The song is not an almshouse tune, it deals with reality and livity, and given the current hustling mentality in the business where some are not doing anything good towards the business, nuff artistes out there could feel pinched by the lyrics," Lewis added.
The Spanish Town police have confirmed that a report about the threats have been reported.
