THE EDITOR, Madam:
I WOULD like the opportunity to make your readers aware of my recent experience while in Cross Roads, Kingston.
I was waiting for a friend outside the doors of the Carib cinema when I witnessed a man on a bicycle ride up to a woman, pull out a knife, relieve her of her chain and proceed along Slipe Road much to the woman's dismay.
Lo and behold, out of the corner of my eye, I saw two armed men alight from a KingAlarm response vehicle in the Friday afternoon traffic and accost this criminal. They proceeded to lift him off of his bicycle and slam him against a nearby bus amidst a cheering crowd who had obviously witnessed the crime but were either too timid, or too selfish to have come to this woman's aid.
What delighted me was the efficiency that followed all of this, as the offender was promptly searched, relieved of a weapon and the woman's chain and taken away presumably to be booked at the nearby Cross Roads Police Station.
It is noteworthy that, in this day and age of selfishness and savagery, these men cared enough to risk their lives to help another Jamaican and then refused the monetary reward offered to them for their assistance.
I ended up watching the movie with my friend once she had arrived, but I assure you that the men of Hollywood, have nothing over the men that I saw from KingAlarm.
I am, etc.,
