Sheryl Lee Ralph

ACTRESS/PRODUCER Sheryl Lee Ralph, in association with The Jamaica Tourist Board and JAMPRO Limited, have announced the Second Annual Jamerican Film & Music Festival, titled "Cinema Inna Yard" will take pace in Montego Bay, Jamaica from November 15 to 19.

The announcement was made at a press reception held recently at the Courtleigh Hotel, New Kingston.

Miss Ralph, addressing a large gathering consisting of Media practitioners, journalists, hoteliers, actors, sponsors, among others, told them the up-coming festival was voted, "one of the Top Ten Film Festivals in the world" by E! Entertainment Television in its inaugural year.

The festival will be a four-day event, to be held at the Wyndham Rose Hall Beach and Country Club, Montego Bay. It is the brainchild of "Jamerican" actress and film-maker, Sheryl Lee Ralph. Ms. Ralph's company, Island Girl Productions, will be responsible for the conceptualisation and implementation of the event.

Miss Ralph also announced that, in attendance will be several international producers, directors, distributors, and stars.

According to her, "Cinema Inna Yard" celebrates the work of film-makers throughout the Caribbean and the world". With each event, Island Girl Productions plans to impact the artistic Caribbean community by providing access to high quality talent form both sides of the camera. The event actively supports strong, positive and innovative examples of cinematic work.

This year's Film & Music Festivals will establish the Marcus Garvey Lifetime Achievement Award in Film & Music to recognise those individuals, who have used their talent and celebrity to not only entertain, but also educate and enlighten.

Boasting a diverse range of film locations, she noted that, Jamaica has long been a favourite of Hollywood directors. The island has played host to over 14 feature films, countless television commercials, and most recently several high profile music videos including Boyz II Men and Lauryn Hill. With a long-standing tradition of hospitality, and a rich cultural heritage and history, not the lease of which is being the birthplace of reggae legend Bob Marley, Jamaica is the ideal location for this exciting event.

The Jamerican Film and Music Festival is sponsored by the Jamaica Tourist Board, JAMPRO Corporation, Air Jamaica, the official airline of the festival, and the Wyndham Rose Hall Beach & Country Club, host hotel for the event.
