KINGSTON PASTOR Al Miller is holding fast to his prophecy that for Jamaica to prosper and return to prominence, the island needs to come up with "a new set of leaders that fear God and work to fulfil His divine purpose".
In the late 1980s, early '90s and again in his sermon yesterday, Rev. Miller said: "God will not restore prosperity to this nation under these leaders who refuse to repent and turn away from their evil, wicked and corrupt ways."
The head of the Fellowship Tabernacle in Half-Way Tree, who repeated his prophecy for the congregation at yesterday's morning service, said that "Nations are not developed by chance but by divine design to accomplish God's purpose."
Pastor Miller traced the progress of the nation from slavery to the present. "Nothing in the nation's present ancestry and existence are a matter of chance," he said. He cautioned that God's plan for the nation would only bear fruit if our leaders repent to avoid open judgement which will be 'swift and sudden'.
He described as shameful the new spate of layoffs by Grace Kennedy, the Bank of Nova Scotia, the Jamaica Public Service Company and Cable and Wireless, saying they were evidence of second level judgement that includes drought, flood, diseases and economic decline. He said that the move to boost profits demonstrated a lack of commitment to improving the country and warned the leaders that they are now under judgement for the corruption, greed, deception and other wrongs committed against the nation.
