A 'toothless dog'

THE EDITOR, Madam:

TODAY I read the news about Mr. Harding's request to Government to abolish capital punishment. I am wondering if Mr Harding is serious or this is another attention-seeking effort. For the life of mine, for the sake of sanity how can anyone think about abolishing the death penalty in the wake of this high crime rate.

The death penalty as it stands, is a toothless dog, but the law books have not changed, and it will remain in the minds of many, whether or not hanging will resume. There is total disrespect for the law today, so what will happen in a moment if capital punishment is abolished. We should all think on these things.
