IF YOU have a weak heart you might not be the perfect patron for the Suarez Brothers Circus at Liguanea, Kingston. However, if you love thrills then this is the perfect place.
The Suarez Brothers Circus, labelled the biggest circus out of Mexico, opened last week Friday in Kingston. The acts are magnificent and at times unbelievable but the customer service is not the best.
Not many of the persons working on the grounds speak English. Without any explanation, cushions are thrust into the hands of patrons at the bleachers and then they are asked to rent them. Many of the customers did not understand the plan and so the cushions were rudely grabbed from their hands when no money was forthcoming.
The circus workers also went around snapping pictures of patrons, without asking permission, these are later sold for $160. If you don't have a lot of money to spend on food then please take your own as a small cup of soda in a paper cup is sold for $50, while a snowcone in a cup (ice and syrup) goes for $80.
But if you get over the communication barrier and the other snags, it is guaranteed that you will get value for your $300 to $650 entry ticket.
Be prepared to see acrobats swinging from wires many feet in the air, a woman who walks on her hands backwards on a staircase and spins hoolahoops with her feet and hands while balancing on her head atop a tight rope. You will be left speechless after a woman climbs a pole balanced on the shoulder of a man. From this pole she is able to twirl quickly in a circle holding on by just a sling around her neck.
Then there is a juggler who juggles three or more balls with his mouth and also juggles a number of hats on his head.
There are clowns, snow white polar bears, and sea lions.
Although the Sunday afternoon show was not packed, both adults and children seemed to have had a good time.
