Hazard hold Tivoli

TIVOLI Gardens' aspirations for a spot in the end of round final hit an unexpected hurdle when they played to an unexciting 0-0 draw with second-from-bottom Hazard United in their National Premier League match at Railway Oval yesterday.

"It's going to make it difficult. We were gearing to win our next three matches which would have assured us of a place. Now we're going to have to await the other results and hope this happens and that happens," said Ali McNab, Tivoli's coach.

"They underestimated Hazard in the sense that they played them with a lackadaisical approach. We were just prepared to do enough not to lose the game as opposed to doing enough and put Hazard away which is what we should have done.

"If they (Tivoli) were playing Harbour View or Waterhouse or Reno, they would've come with a different attitude towards the game. They came into this match expecting Hazard was going to roll over," he said.

While McNab found the result unfavourable, it was a different case with Hazard's coach Christopher Bender.

"I think the team defended very, very well. Getting a point at Tivoli, which is one of the best attacking teams in Jamaica, I'm fairly satisfied with the result," said Bender.
