Holmwood humble Munro

WESTERN BUREAU -

THREE teams booked their places in the quarter-final round of the daCosta Cup after scoring their second win in the inter-zone round yesterday.

Darkhorses Holmwood Technical beat Munro College 3-1 in their Group Three top of the round clash at Porus and are the leaders with six points, three more than Munro.

Landene Morgan with his 12th goal of the season, Roberto Williams with his ninth and Miguel Coley broke a 1-1 halftime deadlock for the Barry Watson-coached Holmwood.

Dinthill and St. Thomas Technical were winners in Group Five, securing their places in the next round and setting up a big clash at Ewarton in Saturday's final round of inter-zone games.

Dinthill edged Buff Bay 2-1 at Lynch Park while St. Thomas Technical eliminated Glenmuir by the same margin at Eastern Bananas.

Cedric Titus created the upset result of the round when they beat the fancied Frome Technical 3-1 in a Group Two game at Muschett Comprehensive in Wakefield, Trelawny.

Deveron Clarke scored twice and Jason Morrison the other for Cedric Titus.

In another Group Two game at William Knibb, Anchovy hammered Ferncourt 3-0.

Two more teams could confirm their places in the last eight today when the second round of inter-zone games continues with Cornwall College and Frome Technical seeking consecutive wins.

Cornwall, Zone A winners, will meet Zone C winners Petersfield in a Group 1 game at Jarrett Park while at Frome Sports Grounds Zone A runners-up St. James High and Zone C runners-up Mannings will do battle in a Group 2 game.

Cornwall should enjoy the going at Jarrett Park in front of their home crowd while Petersfield must step up their game if they are to push for a place in the next round.
