Fr. Rochester A Godly man touched by injustice

THE EDITOR, Madam:

I GUESS I should expect that no one is immune to the bullets which are earmarked for the Jamaican people. Father Howard Rochester was a personal friend with whom I shared many moments of encouragement.

This was a Godly man who was deeply touched by the injustice and violence which now plague our land. The pain he felt when one of his parishioners was gunned down and died on the steps of St. Richards Catholic Church elicited a cry from him for something to be done by the people in charge.

That heart-cry brought angry responses from our politicians who took it personally, but had they had the compassion to look beyond their personal peeve, Father Rochester would probably be alive today.

I am, etc.,
