Sizzling Sizzla

DANCEHALL deejay Sizzla is back with a bang. The super-talented artiste has two singles, To De Point on the Tixx rhythm and Neva Wanna Heard Dem which are blazing up the WEEKEND STAR top 40 charts.

"The vibe I am getting on the Sizzla is wicked, it all a wheel up seven time in a dance or club, the way it hype right now, the people dem a respond to it bad. That single is destined to the number one, it is selling like hot bread, as it finish, we have to order more," producer Chris James who has the 'Trixx' rhythm said.

The artiste has an upcoming six-week tour of the United States to promote his new album, 'Word of Truth'. The firebrand artiste had a public falling out and 'clash of words' with Bounty Killer earlier this year.

Tivoli dancers return

THE TIVOLI Gardens Dance troupe returns to the island today. The group was an integral part of a cultural extravaganza dubbed Jamaica Salute in the Bronx, New York City. The coterie of 27 students, and two teachers left the island on October 20th.

"We are very proud of them, I am a big fan of their work, and they have made the entire school community proud," Mrs. Nadine Bell-Morgan, one of the secretaries at Tivoli Gardens High school, said.

Chico in top form

Fast rising singjay Patrick Walker a.k.a Chico is on the hit trail once again. He has two hot new singles out now, Wah She Can Do on General Degree's Size 8 label and Enemy on Dave Kelly's Extra Large label on the super hot Bounce rhythm.

Both songs are getting major treatment from radio and are already favourites among sound system selectors.

This comes as no surprise as Chico has consistently churned out good songs since he came on the scene in 1998. Among the hits that can be credited to this talented singjay are Grudgeful, Stamina Body' (High Profile label), and Nuh Pet Gal done in tandem with Alozade.

Christopher takes charts by storm

REGGAE singer Christopher's song Can't Live Without Your Love on Richie D's Message rhythm is #3 on the latest New York Top 10 chart, which is compiled by Anthony Turner out of New York.

"The single peaked at #2 last week, right behind Baby Cham's Man and Man.

The song is on the B-side to Nadine Sutherland's Why and the double sided single is being distributed by VP Records. Over in Atlanta, Christopher's song has been doing well on the Atlanta Reggae chart which is compiled by Jason Walker of Changez Disco fame," a publicist told Vibezone.

Garth Brooks to retire?

ACCORDING to the Web wire service, Infobeat, country music star Garth Brooks has hinted at retirement citing family and career concerns.

"I'm here to announce my retirement," Brooks said at a news conference before a gala to celebrate 100 million album sales. "I've done my career with the old saying, 'Burn bright, burn fast,'" he said.

Brooks said he wouldn't consider touring again until his youngest daughter, Allie, 4, goes to college, but may play some shows.

Fine showing at Pageant

THE FIRST annual Miss Inner-city Pageant held on Friday the 20th of October got off to a fine start as hundreds of patrons turned out for the event.

The event was staged by promoter Rohan Whyte, at the Access Centre in Mount Salem, Montego Bay, an saw eight beautiful & intelligent young ladies vying for the crown of Miss Inner-city.

But Kemeisha Lynch walked away with the first prize of $10,000 & a Victoria Secret gift basket courtesy of El Paso Records. In second place was crowd favourite Taneil Meclennon.

Customer Appreciation Day

Fergie Dads, known for the song, I Nah Mind, and I Nah Wine will be appearing on the 'Customer Appreciation Day' at Brine Street and Septimus Street in Jones Town this Sunday, November 5 alongside Bounty Killer, Firelinks and Tony Matterhorn.

"The single is very popular among schoolchildren, and I like how my career has been progressing," Fergie Dads said.
