Saturday, November 4 will be the acid test of her career.
Her stage name is Keri and she will be the artiste occupying the coveted 'Star of Tomorrow' opening slot at Heineken Startime's big 'Get Ready Rock Steady' show at Mas Camp Village, New Kingston.
Born Christine Salmon, this talented product of Westmoreland and Frome Technical High School is committed to being proficient in all aspects of the music business.
The Startime performance is so far her biggest challenge as she will be sharing the limelight with some of the true greats of Jamaican music; persons like Alton Ellis, U-Roy, Ken Boothe, The Melodians, Phyllis Dillon and Lloyd Parks and We The People Band.
"This is a rare chance to share the stage with some of the artistes who laid the foundation and helped create Jamaica's music," she said.
This 19-year-old wonder is not only a very talented singer, but has 22 compositions to her credit, does her own background vocals, arranges four and five-part harmony, plays the piano and continues to work on her arranging skills.
She has had two releases to date, 'Shine' on the Dynamic label and 'My Way' on the Boot Camp label. She also did a duet 'Groove Me' with Charlie Chaplin in 1997 and is currently working on her debut album.
Keri is committed to getting to the top and in four days, Startime fans will get the opportunity to hear and enjoy her performance.
