DETECTIVES IN Clarendon said yesterday they had not made any breakthrough into last Tuesday's murder of Carl Lubsey, a diver who was shot dead in Rocky Point in the parish.
He was contracted to do commercial diving which mainly involved searching the hulls of ships for contraband.
Detective Sergeant Calbert Davis, sub-officer in charge of crime for Clarendon, said the police had not identified any suspects or established a motive but said they were taking in mind the sensitivity of his job as they investigated the murder.
"We are looking into the possibility that it might have been linked to his work of diving to find drugs," he said.
He said at about 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Mr. Lubsey was on his way to Rocky Point to check the ship Orlent River II, which had been docked at the Rocky Point port to collect aluminum.
The vessel, the detective sergeant said, originates from Orracedem in Texas, US, and was scheduled to return there after it was loaded with its cargo. It was while on his way that Mr. Lubsey was killed.
A report from the Consta-bulary Communication Network (CCN) said the diver was driving his Nissan pick-up on the Rocky Point Pier Road when a grey car drove up behind him. Occupants in the car opened fire hitting him and he lost control of his vehicle which crashed. The gunmen came out of the car and opened fire again, hitting him all over his body, killing him on the spot.
