Jamaica's Omar Daley moves past a Cayman Islands defender during action on Wednesday night. - Rudolph Brown FRESH from Wednesday's 5-0 hammering of the Cayman Islands, hosts Jamaica continue their march towards Argentina 2001 when they meet Dominica tonight at 7:00 at the Harbour View Mini-Stadium.
Their game will follow that of the opening encounter at 5:00 between the Cayman Islands and Grenada who both lost on the opening day.
The Young Reggae Boyz lead this Caribbean zone of the CONCACAF Under-20 World Cup qualification on goal difference over the team they meet this evening. If yesterday's display by the teams is anything to go by, then the Young Boyz should start favourites.
Against the Cayman Islands - a team that looks like the second best in the tournament based on organisation and skill - the Jamaicans had their own way and could have won by a wider margin. If they play the same formation they did in the second half, which included four-goal hero Christopher Nicholas, then Dominica will have a lot of problems.
Even with that knowledge, technical director Clovis de Oliveira will not be taking anything for granted.
"They (Dominica) have this psychological aspect helping them because they won their (first) game so they are going to be excited. But you cannot predict before. Football is always going to be difficult, as it was in the first half. So I hope that in the next game we're not going to have this difficulty," de Oliveira said on Wednesday night about tonight's challenge.
"We have our plans. I saw their strengths and weaknesses and we are going to try to put it in practice against them. We are at home, we're in a good mood, we're confident but you cannot say if you're gonna win or not. I like to respect the opponent very much. That's my object, to respect the opponent," he said.
Joffre Faustin of Dominica was very respectful of the Jamaican team. "We're looking forward to our next game. We are taking it one step at a time and hopefully we can come out with the same result in the next game," Faustin said after his team's 2-1 win over Grenada.
"Jamaica have a pretty good following, they have a pretty good team, We've heard so much about Jamaica, they've been involved in the World Cup at senior level, they have a pretty good coach and Jamaica's football is really on top," he said.
