Village on top

VILLAGE United of Trelawny moved to the top of the A League table with a 1-0 win over Maverley-Hughenden in a rescheduled game yesterday.

Village now have 18 points from eight games and take over from previous leaders Duhaney Park who were held to a 2-2 draw by Rockfort.

Duhaney Park slipped to third place as Galaxy stopped Rivoli 2-1 to move up to 17 points, the same as Duhaney Park.

Because of a superior goal difference, plus 13, Galaxy became the sole holders of the second position as Duhaney Park have a goal difference of plus nine.

Rivoli, with their loss, slipped from second to fourth while Rockfort moved up to 11 points following their draw but still remain ninth.

Maverley also failed to change their position in the table and are still in 10th place.
