Like fire and water

Twins, Kadean and Kerry-Ann Wallace - Rudolph Brown

YOU will never have a dull moment with Kaydean and Kerry-Ann Wallace.

They are never short on conversation and there are few matters on which they will quietly agree.

The Wallace twins are like fire and water and together, they make a lot of steam.

"It feels like a gift from God to be born a twin," said Kaydean, the older of the two,"...most people would like to be a twin and can't."

Kerry-Ann, however, doesn't feel it's a gift as they are not the only twins in their family.

"Practically, it doesn't feel like a gift, because there are other twins in my family, we have two sets of twin cousins," she said, rebutting her sister's statement.

Despite their polar personalities however, the twins feel comfortable with each other as they get to do a lot together.

"We go to church together, we go pathfinder (Christian retreat) together, we buy lunch together, we sing on the choir together...," said Kaydean.

The choir girls, who are members of the Rollington Town Seventh Day Adventist Church, cannot agree who is the better singer.

"My sister is a soprano and sopranos are better singers," said Kerry-Ann.

"Well the reason why I think she is the better singer is because I've heard her sing. I've heard her sing at church, in the bathroom at home, on the choir...a mean she can sing good," replied Kaydean.

Let's say they can both sing.

Bickering is as far as the girls' differences will go. They have never engaged in a physical face-off.

"We quarrel one and two time but fight? No, we don't do that," said Kaydean.

When it comes to choosing friends, though the girls are kindred spirits.

"I like Christian friends," said Kaydean, "friends that are kind..."

"And friends that are mean!" interjected Kerry jokingly.

They agree that one of the things they dislike the most about being twins is having to wear the same clothes most of the time.

"We have to wear the same clothes all the while," lamented Kerry-Ann. Kaydean who is more daring and outgoing," likes to wear skirts with splits at the sides to church."

One of the girls' teachers at the Windward Road Primary and Junior High School, Lloyd Newell, says he has never met a pair of twins like the Wallaces.

"They are the first set of twins I have ever met who are always at each other...as one say something, the other comes up with something else," he said.

"...I think they are good girls. They are very sociable but can also be moody at times, especially Kerry-Ann," he said.

He says despite being their teacher for almost a term, he has not been able to identify them by their names.

"I usually hold them by the hands to tell who I am talking to because one is smaller than the other," he said.

"I think they catch on pretty well for students," he added.

In the future, Kaydean wants to be a flight attendant while her sister, wants to be an archaeologist.
