Help for son who wants to be a song-writer

Dear Pastor,

My son is in need of help and you are the only one I can turn to. He is gifted. He writes gospel songs and he doesn't take long to write them. He is not very educated, but I know God gave him this gift. He does not know where to go or what to do to get these songs recorded.

He is 21 years old and I am willing to help him. He is unemployed. I try to send him some money at the end of every month so that he can buy some food. Life is rough with me. I want to serve God, but there are certain things in my life I have to get rid of. I am very unhappy with the way I am living. I ask God every day for deliverance.

My son told me that he has written 25 songs. He wrote the first song when he was eight years old. He said he will continue writing. He does gospel the deejay style. I am praying that his dreams will come true. I am also praying that God will give you strength to keep up the good work.

D.E., Curacao

Dear D.E.,

I have passed on your son's name to two promoters of gospel songs. I have asked them to contact him if they believe that he may have something to offer the industry. I will also write to him.

I hope that very soon you would surrender your life to Christ. Don't allow anything to stand in your way.

Teenager unhappy with her looks

Dear Pastor,

I am a teenager and I am having some problems. I am embarrassed by the size of my face, nose and feet. People tease me about my nose. I would like to get my nose straightened. It is very flat. Whenever I go out and see other girls with nicely shaped feet, I get jealous. I would like to get something to straighten my feet. I am afraid they will get larger when I become an adult.

My friends told me that I can get my nose straightened because Michael and Janet Jackson straightened theirs. This thing is bothering me so much.

Initials and Parish Withheld.

Dear...,

Many people would like to make certain changes on their bodies. Many women with small breasts would like to have them bigger. Some women with large breasts would like to reduce the size. Others want more hips or larger buttocks. Many slim women would like to put on weight etc.

It is a wonderful thing when one is willing to accept him or herself without making it a bother. I am sure you have heard of women who have been bleaching themselves and young girls who have been foolishly using chicken pill to give them more shape. How ridiculous! Have you observed how some women have been wearing false hair? Years ago, a woman would wear a wig to suit her complexion. Nowadays black women wear red wigs, green wigs, white wigs etc. One would expect that around carnival time, but they are all over the place like that, carnival or no carnival.

At your age you are struggling with yourself. You are not yet willing to accept yourself. You have low self-esteem. Someone has to help you. I am not suggesting that it is wrong to do cosmetic surgery if you have to do it. But to be thinking about it to the extent that it is making you depressed, is wrong. In any case, such surgery that you are thinking about is very costly and I doubt very much that you are in a position to pay for it.

I want to encourage you to study hard. Excel in your school work. That is what is important. Some girls are very beautiful but they are dunce. You do not want to be a dunce. You want to be educated. After you have had your career, and if at that time you are convinced that you need surgery to straighten your nose and feet, you may consult a plastic surgeon. God made you the way you are.

You are good for nothing pastor

Dear Pastor,

Greetings to you in the name of Jesus our soon coming King. I have a friend who is having an affair with a certain man. I have known this man for about 14 years. He was living with his children and their mother. I caused this man to leave his family because my friend asked me to do so. She wanted him to come and live with her.

My brother and I went to this man's house with a play gun and held up his children's mother. My brother told her to tell this man to leave his woman and if he didn't do it, he was going to kill him. I knew that this man was not at home at the time. He was at my girlfriend's home. My brother also called the man's brother at his work place and told him that he was going to kill his brother if he didn't leave his woman.

I just want this man to know that I am sorry. He is now living with my girlfriend. I would like to go to this woman and tell her that I am the one who ran her children's father away from her. Do you think I will receive forgiveness for what I have done?

S., St. Catherine

Dear S.,

I would like to see your brother and you go to prison. I would like to see both of you rot there. There is where both of you belong. You all are wicked people and please bear in mind that God is not dead, neither is He blind. He sees all things.

Don't fool yourself. If your brother and you can go to hold up this woman with a toy gun, you would be prepared to use a real gun and commit a crime. Both of you are murderers at heart. You are asking about forgiveness, you should face the court of the land and be thrown in jail.

This woman with whom the man is now living, is not going to prosper. It is only a matter of time. The whole bunch of you are good for nothing.

Pastor
