PACT member in NGO deal

FLORETTE BLACKWOOD, programme director of People's Action for Community Transformation (PACT), is currently participating in a Non-Government Organisation (NGO) Management Course in the United States, sponsored by the American Embassy. The course aims to bring together a group of fundraisers, activist, community outreach co-ordinators and NGO directors to visit diverse regions in the USA to examine the methodologies used to develop and further the aims of NGOs.

Mrs. Blackwood's selection was based on her experience in the area of community development. Before assuming leadership of PACT - an umbrella organisation of 26 NGOs working primarily in the inner cities - she served as project manager for a National Micro Enterprise programme funded by the Governments of Jamaica and the Netherlands.

Before undertaking her US tour, Mrs. Blackwood pursued a graduate course in an area of focus that is increasingly being addressed by NGOs - Conflict Analysis and Management - at the Royal Roads University in Canada.
