Ventura for big competition

Producer Stephen Ventura is getting set to release a hot new compilation CD on his Mphatic Label. The CD will feature several tracks recorded on two rhythms which were created by him, the Latino & Boasty Gal rhythm. Both rhythms were released earlier this year. The Latino has already spawned several hits such as Capleton's Crazy Look, and Beenie Man's Ring Pon Finga.

"The 23-track compilation will feature several top dancehall acts including Capleton, Buju Banton, Beenie Man, Elephant Man & Lady Saw, plus new act Cecile and Danny English. Distribution of the CD will be handled by Greensleeves Records," a publicist told Vibezone.

Xmas rhythms

King Jammys will be releasing two rhythms this Christmas - the Trilogy and the Blaze rhythm.

"The Trilogy is produced by King Jammys and Ward 21, while Blaze is produced by Christopher James. Trilogy features songs like the eagerly anticipated When the Smoke Clears with Bounty Killer and Wayne Marshall, and singles by Vegas, Elephant Man. Blaze features artistes like Fahrenheit, Sizzla and Ward 21, and Zumjay. These rhythms will be out about two weeks before Christmas," Nedia Johnson, a publicist for King Jammys said.

'Pier Vibes' on target

Top flight singer Barrington Levy has been confirmed to work alongside heavyweight acts such as Bounty Killer, Singing Melody, Innocent Kru, and Buccaneer on the charity 'Pier Vybes' show this year.

Top hip-hop stars and celebs are also set to ship-wreck 'Pyer Vybes' at Ocho Rios Pier, December 2 to save the children.

"'Pier Vybes' is a charity show for the Jamaica Primary School Educational Fund, supported by Food For The Poor and, will give scholarships to numerous talented children in rural Jamaica who cannot afford to stay in school," publicist Gregory McFarlane said.

St Bess buzz

Two Saturdays ago, the scenic Apple Valley Park in Maggoty St. Elizabeth was a buzz. As hundreds of patrons came out for the RJR Family Fun Day put on by the radio station and the owners of the park. The event was well attended and the people who came out had a whale of a time.

Deejay Silva Kid delivered an energetic performance that was well received by the audience. She received forwards for songs such as Damn, Gimme Way, Loh Mi & Gi Di Man Dem Headache.

Xmas Extravaganza

Dancehall star Beenie Man along with Elephant Man & Morgan Heritage will headline Christmas Extravaganza. This show will be held at Independence Park in Black River, St. Elizabeth on Saturday the 23rd of December. It will be the first major show to be kept at this venue in a long time. Although Independence Park was once utilised for many major events in the 80s, it has

been out of use for some time now.

Several other top acts will also be featured on this show, including Ninja man, Lexxus, Sugar Minnot, Tanto Metro & Devonte, George Nooks, Charlie Chaplin,Kirk Davis, Silver Cat & Snagga Puss aka Mr. Balance.

Backing band will be Ruff Kut band. Music will be provided by GT's Aggregation, Super X Disco & Venom Disco.

Ward 21 in Cali

The group WARD 21 is now in California on a series of gigs in that state, but they have a number of other appearances for the US.

"They will be appearing at Binghamton College in New York between November 16 to

18 and in December, they will appear on the Irie Jams show in New York, and in mid December, they will hit Orlando and Miami. Their career is really taking off overseas," a publicist said.

The group is known for hits such as Bloodstain, Punaany Medley, and One More Start a War with Elephant Man.
