Time for a pensions increase

THE EDITOR, Madam:

ON MONDAY December 18, 2000 the amount of $2 billion is shown as added to the NIF. It also sets out the inclusion to what existed prior and the purpose for which these amounts are invested.

Obviously these are done in one order for increases to pensioners etc., periodically.

At this time as a pensioner with fortnightly amounts of the insignificant sum of $400 as purchasing power which can't do much these days, with the astronomically high cost of living I thought the Hon. Donald Buchanan, Minister of Labour & Social Security would by now announce an increase. The amount in the fund sounds adequate.

I am, etc.,

DISSATISFIED PENSIONER

Malvern
