Cellular woes

THE EDITOR, Madam:

It is history that Cable and Wireless had suspended issuing new cellular phone connections in Montego Bay a few months ago because their transmitting facilities could not cope with the traffic on the system.

They recently reopened connecting new phones with a powerful marketing programme, claiming that they had upgraded their transmitting facilities.

The fact is that the cellular service is now once again overloaded, with Cable and Wireless recordings coming on a regular basis.

It is almost impossible to access the messaging service during the day, and calls are often directed to the messaging service without first allowing the phone to ring.

What is equally frustrating is that it is impossible to talk to anybody in authority at Cable and Wireless to complain about the poor service.

We the public need to have a clear statement from Cable and Wireless admitting their problem and presenting a programme of rectification or else we will have to seek the services of one of the new cellular carrier that will soon come on line.

I am, etc.

WINSTON DEAR
