Gang feud claims another

A SIMMERING gang feud in the Bray Street community of Eastern Kingston has claimed the life of another person. According to the police, a 27-year-old patron who was at a dance in the community was shot and killed by gunmen in the early hours of yesterday.

Patrick Sinclair, otherwise called "Wrangler", was among patrons at a dance when, at about 1:00 a.m., he was attacked by gunmen who shot him in the chest and back. The police said he died while undergoing treatment at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH).

According to the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN), Sinclair is the first victim of violent crime for the new year.

In November last year in the wake of an outbreak of gun killings in the McIntyre Land (Dunkirk), Bryden Street areas, heavily armed members of the security forces swooped down in the community for regular patrols. About four persons were killed within a three week period.

The police also reported that another person was shot and killed by gunmen on Sunday evening in Fletchers Land, Central Kingston. He has been identified as Christopher Tennant, 19.

Reports are that the deceased and another man were seen entering premises on Johns Lane and shortly after residents heard an explosion. Tennant's body was later found with gunshot wounds to the back of the head.

In other reports, two persons including an American national, were arrested and charged for breaches of the Dangerous Drug Act at the Norman Manley International Airport on Sunday.

The police said, Wendy Camille Hylton, 21, was about to board a flight to London when during a routine check, she was found with one pound of cocaine in the soles of her shoe. The American national, Devore Joseph, 25, of Gleneagle, Newark, was also nabbed with one pound of cocaine strapped to his legs. He was in the process of boarding a flight to Philadelphia.
