THE EDITOR, Madam:
IT IS Pantomime time once again and we the first-nighters were not disappointed. Some persons like to go to see the performance when, as they say, it has mellowed, but most of us first-nighters love the magic and the inevitable surprises that come with being "the first to know".
This year the surprises included a real-real giant whose giant-sized toes wiggled and whose giant-sized hand was extended to receive a giant-sized slice of cake and who could really "bawl out" for his meat.
Man Cow was not a mad cow, but just a cow who could sing and dance. Goat, Pig and Donkey took on human form and tried to behave like human beings. The rapid growth of a Macca tree was something incredible, a phenomenon which our agriculturalists could investigate.
All in all in this world of stark realities a little magic and fantasy laced with rich humour is good for the spirit and this is what Pantomime 2000/2001, Jack and the Macca Tree, provides in good measure. Everyone should make a special effort to see the Pantomime and enjoy some first-class entertainment.
I am, etc.,
