An ordained union - God, the best maker of all marriages Combine your hearts in one -Henry V (1599)

Terrence and Adella McLean - Contributed

By Nagra Plunkett, Freelance Writer

Western Bureau

TERRENCE and Adella McLean are enjoying 51 years of marriage. The couple wedded on October 30, 1949 and are devoted Christians who both have been serving the Montego Bay New Testament Church of God for over 50 years.

The marriage has produced one child, Mrs. Beverley Forrester, who is the mother of six.

The story of how they were brought together can be described as very interesting and spiritual.

Mrs. McLean said that her husband, affectionately known as 'Brother Mac', was engaged to be married to another sister at their church. The 79-year-old woman told THE STAR that one night she had a dream.

In her dream she saw four persons standing in a room, the Lord, the minister at the New Testament Church at the time- Pastor P.B. Kurton, Terrence, and herself.

Mrs. McLean said that the Lord held up his hands and in each was a ring. His left hand held a fake gold ring while there was genuine gold ring in the right. God outstretched his right hand to her.

She told Pastor Kurton about the dream but did not tell Brother Mac. A few months later the couple, who now lives in Green Pond, St. James, wedded.

"We are loyal to each other and we love the Lord," Mrs. McLean said smiling, looking at her 88-year-old husband.

Brother Mac, who became a Christian at 26, did not say much during the interview. It was mentioned that he worked with the St. James Parish Council as an Insect Inspector and retired at the age of 60.

"God has given her to me... he has given me a good thing" he said. "I'm enjoying every bit of it."

Mrs. McLean was saved at the age of 22 and worked in the tourist industry.

"He's just all together lovely, he's my baby," she said stroking her husband's face.

"I would like to bury him, I pray that I don't die before him," Mrs. McLean said.

The McLeans had some advice for young people planning to get married.

First, they advise that they seek the Lord if they are not Christians.

Secondly, misunderstandings will occur. It must be remembered that God has already made you and no one can make you over.

Mrs. McLean urged that both individuals learn about each other so the relationship can be long and binding.
