Friction between Cham and Bounty?

DANCEHALL fans have been querying the status of the relationship between Bounty Killer and Baby Cham since Cham was a no-show on the Killer's hugely popular 'Saddle 2000' show last Christmas Day.

"At the Hot Shots show, him pass we and hold him head

straight...pass Ashley, me, all the yute dem weh Cham used to par with...'im no hail nobody. We accept him decision..., him shoulda tell mi seh him nah come a mi show like a man... mi no want hear no silly excuse 'bout yu tired; him never rate the Killer."

"I made an indirect statement that we shouldn't Americanise the music, we have to stick to the roots and heritage, but Dave Kelly and Cham feel seh mi a talk about Cham's album...but mi neva criticise Cham's album. From I said that, Cham no call me...him never even come to my show," Bounty Killer said.

"Right now, rap ah influence reggae fans more than reggae ah influence rap, we need to cool off, and push in more of ours and start back the fusion."

When contacted, Brenda Hamilton, manager of Babycham said that there was no negative vibe between the Killer and Cham. "The love is still there', she said.

THE new deejay duo, Shottis and Ayatola gave a good account of themselves at the Asylum nightclub's 'Sunday Buzz' series.

The duo delivered the new single, Nah Lie which earned a vociferous response from the crowd.

Other acts featured on the showcase were Alozade, Gabriel, G Money, Wanted Squad and Problem Child who represented themselves well. This Sunday, the Buzz will feature Red Rat, Hawkeye, Buccaneer and friends.

The hot new Eclipse nightclub in cool Mandeville is the ultimate place to be for a good time and good music.

Formerly Fayors Nightclub, the Eclipse - located at 33 Ward Avenue - boasts an indoor facility for nightly activities and an outdoor venue used for stage shows.

"Eclipse is doing quite well, Wednesday is Ladies Night, Thursday - dancehall night; Friday - After Work Jam, Saturday - all night party; and Sunday is karaoke. The club is chock full of hype and fun. This Saturday Paula Ann Porter will be in house unleashing her turntable skills, alongside a fashion show with local models," a publicist for the club told Vibezone.

Ace deejay Ninjaman has ad-mitted that he was defeated by Merciless at

Sting 2000's memorable onstage clash, but has vowed that 'if a clash does not happen by February 3', he will personally hunt down Merciless on any stage, and return the favour.

"Right now, mi a issue an ultimatum to Merciless fi face me at my birthday bash on February 3 at the Ocho Rios Pier, and if him no face me that day, him is a dead man walking 'cause whichever stage show him de pon, mi a go hunt him down and kill him," Ninjaman told Vibezone .

Man-of-the-moment Merciless says that he has no intention of clashing with any of the deejays that he faced off against during last year's memorable Sting 2000' show.

"At this point mi no inna no one and one lyrical confrontation on stage with either Beenie, Bounty or Ninja Man because them dead already. And me no clash with duppy!" he said.

And in response to any suggestion that he is afraid Merciless threw down the gauntlet: "If it come to the test, the three (Beenie, Bounty and Ninja) wi dead any given time again. To how me kill them already, mi will kill dem duppy to. Because mi no fraid a nobody. If dem want a war any time dem ready fi a war mi ready".

Singjay Patrick Walker aka 'Chico' has diverted from his typical 'girl tune' emphasis to deliver a different type of song.

On this new recording titled Hussle To Di Top on the hot new, Toppatop rhythm created by Computer Paul for the B.I.G label, Chico comes to the defence of poor.

"I was inspired to do this song by the determination of the Jamaican people who hustle everyday, to make ends meet despite the odds," Chico said.

Chico recently came back to the island after a month long tour of North Ameri-ca with stable mate Baby Cham, and has enjoyed good airplay with other songs such as the Dave Kelly-produced Enemy & Weh She Can Do on General Degree's Size 8 label.
