Keep cruise ships out of Pt Antonio

THE EDITOR, Madam:

IT IS fantastic that we are trying to boost income from tourism and market Port Antonio at the same time. Before we proceed to have cruise ships pulling into the beautiful waters of the only real haven left in Jamaica I invite you to take a look at what is left of Ocho Rios and Montego Bay.

These destinations have lost their splendour and although may be considered full of tourist traffic really does not represent the beauty that Jamaica has to offer.

In the same way that we have decided to not make any building taller than the tallest coconut tree in Negril I say we leave the cruise ships out of the waters on our unspoiled Port Antonio.

Should we proceed to ruin Port Antonio what will we have left as the gem of Jamaica? Where will one then escape to find natural unspoiled beauty? Should we suggest that they stay the heck away and go to Turks and Caicos?

Let us market: the Y.S. Falls, Port Antonio, the natural beauties that we have left; control the traffic going into these spots, do not have them too developed, have them stay as natural and beautiful as possible and give people a reason to come to Jamaica apart from craft markets and looking for family.

I am etc.,
