Cornwall clobbers Spanish Town High

CORNWALL KINGS: Romain McDonald; Adley Duncan; Ian Molyneaux, captain; and Juma Stewart. - Norman Grindley

CORNWALL COLLEGE walked away with an easy victory over newcomers Spanish Town High School on Monday in the TVJ's 2001 School Challenge Quiz.

The school from the second city clipped the wings of the institution from old capital 48 to 15.

Spanish Town High School's defeat was sealed after the end of the first section when they closed the round with five points to Cornwall's 10.

In the speed section Cornwall College blew away the seemingly unprepared Spanish Town High School leaving them in the dust. At no time was Spanish Town a threat.

By the by the time buzzer section came the winners, led by captain Ian Molyreaux had scored 40 points compared to a mere 17 points by Spanish Town.

Spanish Town, apparently unnerved by their impending defeat tried to take control of the match by attempting to answer a few of the questions fielded but they only made matters worse for themselves losing two points.

After the match Molyreaux said that teamwork helped them win. "We know that alone we could not win but together we made a strong team that will make Cornwall proud," he said.

The teams were Cornwall: Molyreaux; Adley Duncan; Romain McDonald; and Juma Stewart. While Spanish Town High was made up of Christine Brown; Troy Thompson, captain; Keniel Monteith and Andreen Wolfe.
