Sandals opens Beaches Royal Plantation

Stewart

BEACHES Royal Plantation, the latest hotel in the Sandals and Beaches group of all-inclusive resorts officially opened for business this week.

The former Plantation Inn which was acquired by the Sandals Group headed by Gordon "Butch" Stewart from the Financial Sector Adjustment Company (FINSAC), in June 1999, has been refurbished at a cost of US$10 million. It is one of the few resorts in the Caribbean region with a combined five star, five diamond classification.

The resort will cater to singles, couples and adult families with children of 16 years and over. The eighty room hotel has been billed as the most upscale resort within the Sandals Group.

Like its sister resort, Beaches Grande Sport at Ciboney, which opened just over a month ago, Beaches Royal Plantation opened with an occupancy level in excess of 70 per cent. Based on forward bookings, it is hoped that trend will continue for the remainder of the Winter season. Beaches Royal Plantation brings to 17, the number of resorts which now fall under the Sandals/Beaches umbrella in 6 Caribbean islands.

Sandals' chairman Gordon "Butch" Stewart said of his latest venture: "The opening of Beaches Royal Plantation ushers in a new dimension to the all in-inclusive industry, as its luxury and opulence surpasses that of any existing Caribbean hotel. This resort elevates the combined five star, five diamond classification- the industry's symbol of perfection to new levels.

Nothing has been spared to ensure that Beaches Royal Plantation will provide its guests with a feeling of grace and seclusion. This is surely our most luxurious Beaches Resort ever and it will offer the most indulgent amenities and top-notch services.

Beaches Royal Plantation offers 80 suites and two private villas, each with ocean views and private balconies. Most suites have in -room Jacuzzis.

Guests staying at Beaches Royal Plantation Golf Resort & Spa, will be able to take advantage of full exchange privileges with the nine other Sandals and Beaches Resorts in Jamaica. All resort guests will also be provided with complimentary round trip airport transfers in chauffeur driven private cars. The resort's new Signature Spa will offer brand new deluxe treatment rooms featuring a variety of spa treatments. Visitors to the resort will be able to enjoy a variety of water sport activities, including scuba, snorkelling, water-skiing, sailing and windsurfing.

The first Beaches Resort opened in 1997 with five others following on stream namely; Beaches Grande Sport, Beaches Inn and Beaches Negril in Jamaica. In the rest of the region there are Beaches Turks & Caicos and Beaches Varadero in Cuba.
