Senator condemns nude wedding

THE EDITOR, Madam:

I WRITE to express my strong disgust at the Mass Nude Wedding. The recent advertisement of a Mass Nude Wedding has had many Jamaicans from all walks of life condemning this satanic act. I too wish to join and express my profound disgust at this immoral act. My views and concerns are not necessarily those of the Government of which I am a part, but rather is a strong reflection of the Christian ideal that I proudly endorse.

My opposition comes within two contexts: the rapid deterioration in values and attitudes and the rapid establishment of a market society.

Over the past 20 years we have seen a rapid decline in values and attitudes within our society. This decline in values and attitudes has led to a decline in respect for each other; indiscipline in schools; disrespect to public authorities; disregard for national signs and symbols; and a significant degree of disrespect for our women. This mass nude wedding is an indication of a continuation of this evil trend. We cannot be speaking about the need to restore proper values and attitudes within our society and yet still, engaging in practices that are immoral and satanic.

There are some individuals in our society who have forgotten that we are in the process of establishing a market economy and not a market society. In a market society everything goes.

There are no regards for morals and proper values. This is the type of society that existed in Sodom and Gomorrah and God destroyed it.

This is the type of society that existed in Port Royal and God destroyed it. We must not disregard these historical facts. To do so, is setting the stage for a disaster of cataclysmic proportion.

Even though the weddings take place on private property, we must not ignore the values that we endorse by and large within our society. Let good sense prevail.

I am, etc.,

FLOYD MORRIS

(Senator)
