Tivoli face strugglers

AFTER A 2 1/2-week break to facilitate JNBS Knockout matches, the A League semi-finals and a World Cup qualifier, the National Premier League gets going again today at 3:00 p.m.

In all there are four matches on today, two in the Corporate Area. As it was in the previous series of games in this the third round, the emphasis will be on securing a semi-final spot.

At Railway Oval, Tivoli Gardens, who are in with a chance of earning a semi-final place, go up against Seba United who are struggling at the bottom of the table. Cling Cling Oval will see neighbours Olympic Gardens and Waterhouse go head to head. Both teams are at different ends of the table.

Waterhouse are in the top four while Olympic Gardens are in the bottom four. A win for Waterhouse would keep them in the running for a semi-final place while Olympic Gardens need to keep winning to fight off relegation.

Tivoli Gardens will be doing their struggling opponents no favours when they meet today. According to their coach, Ali McNab, nothing will be taken for granted.

"We have not yet secured a semi-final place with six matches left and I would like to think we are approaching this quite seriously. We need to secure these three points. We need to win at least another three of those matches to at least earn a semi-final place and it begins with Seba," McNab said.

Seba United, after the resignation of Bill Moraveck and the disciplinary problems of Peter Hurge, Dr Dean Weatherly has stepped in to assist. He is fully aware though the game will be a tough one.

"Playing away to Tivoli Gardens will always be tough. We have to dig deep to come up with the goods. With seven matches left, five wins and two draws will get us into the semi-finals.

"We are not thinking about relegation or survival. Getting into the semi-finals is the thinking of the club at this time," Weatherly said.
