IT was a close call for the boys of Munro College who, after a struggle, finally beat their opponents, Immaculate Conception High School 26 to 23 to advance to Round Two of TVJ's Schools Challenge Quiz, 2001 competition.
The first segment of the competition ended with both schools tied at nine points. However, by the second segment, the all-boys school led the all-girls team 24 to 21.
It was obvious that both teams were nervous and lacked confidence as many of the questions went unanswered. Munro's team members later admitted to having known most of the answers but said they were afraid of taking chances.
The buzzer section was not much better as both teams passed on most of the questions. The least number of questions were answered in this segment.
"We were very nervous and we realised that we need more confidence," the Munro members told THE STAR. They also said they were afraid of taking chances thus their hesitation in pressing the buzzer.
They are, however, confident that they will be more prepared for the next match.
