Cops shoot two dead in Barbican

Policemen on patrol in Barbican, St. Andrew, yesterday shot and killed two men.

A woman was also shot, but it was not confirmed up to press time who had caused her injuries.

The dead men are: 24-year-old Kumani Davis, and 25-year-old Kimrod Davis, of Barbican Way. The woman's name was not released by the police up to late yesterday afternoon.

A report from the Constabulary Communications Network (CCN) indicated that the police came under fire while searching a house on Barbican Way between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m. The police said they returned the fire and the men and a woman were later found inside the building with gunshot wounds.

The three were taken to hospital where both men were pronounced dead and the woman treated and sent home. A constable at the CCN told The Sunday Gleaner yesterday that it had not been ascertained how the woman was shot.

A 12-gauge shotgun with serial number 540666 and three rounds of ammunition were seized during the operation.

The Constant Spring police said they had been seeking both men for questioning in connection with the stabbing death of Albert "Doc" Ainsley, whose body was found in a gully at the intersection of Barbican and Jacks Hill roads last Wednesday. They were also being sought in connection with another shooting incident which occurred on the same day.
