Peer Awards May 9

MK Communications Limited, organisers and promoters of the Annual Peer Awards held its official presentation of nominees for the 2000 awards at the Hilton Kingston Hotel last Tuesday night.

The gathering, which comprised sponsors, subscribers, advertisers and media practitioners, was brought up-to-date with the objective of the awards by AMK's chairman, Aldo Smith.

"The Peer Awards are to recognise marketing professionals for their work and contribution in a given year," Mr. Smith explained.

He also announced that the event would take place on Wednesday, May 9, under the theme, 'There Is No Greater Recognition'.

The AMK's chairman also announced that the organisation would be laying the ground work for the publication of a textbook, especially for Caribbean students pursuing courses in marketing.

In the pipeline, too, is a video documentary also for marketing students.

Carey Metz, senior partner with Deloitte and Touche, auditors of the Awards, gave a report.

Awards will be made in the following categories: lifetime achievement, technical and artistic achievement, magazine advertisement, public relations, television, sales, graphic design, marketing, among others.
