Dear Readers,
V.M from St. Ann has a big problem which has caused her a lot of worry and depression. She says her problem makes her feel as if she would run away or commit suicide. Her problem is related to her vagina, the sexual nest.
Her husband complains that her vagina is very loose and does not have any tightness to it. He keeps accusing her of having other sexual partners and sometimes he even wants to fight with her, physically. Whenever she has sexual intercourse her vagina makes "slapping" noises. She is very embarrassed by this. V.M asks for help concerning this problem she is experiencing before she "does something bad" to herself.
V.M. seems filled with self loathing and despair. She has not stated her age or whether or not she had children which is an important cause of her complaint.
It is the woman who bears children. It is the woman who has her body stretched to carry the child and whose vagina must open enough to allow a fully formed child to exit her body. There is certainly much "wear and tear" on a woman's body when it comes to producing a child. The accusation of infidelity because of the changes which have occurred to the woman's physical structure is therefore a very poor way of saying "thank you". V.M.'s complaint is a fairly common one and, sadly, the male response to enlargement in the size of the vagina is also common.
LIFELINE spoke with Dr. Courtney Palmer, Consultant Gynaecologist who explained that during child-birth the vaginal wall muscles are stretched. Sometimes the muscles are stretched beyond their elasticity and even torn.
When the laxity in the vaginal walls is mild, KEGELS exercises will help to build and restore the tone to the muscles in the vaginal area. These exercises involve the repeated tightening of the ANAL sphincter and the vaginal wall muscles at intervals throughout the day.
When any muscle is exercised repeatedly it increases in tone and muscle mass and this might remedy the problem. If vaginal tears obtained during childbirth were not repaired and if the vaginal wall muscles are seriously over-stretched the only useful treatment is SURGICAL REPAIR of the VAGINAL WALL.
Dr. Palmer, gynaecologist, recommends this surgical, cosmetic operation which reduces the size of the vagina by approximating the muscles as the preferred treatment for significant vaginal wall laxity. In this experience, this a fairly commonly requested procedure which solves the problem.
The "noises" V.M. hears from her vagina during sexual intercourse occur because of the vaginal wall laxity. Air enters the vagina due to the loose fit between the genitalia and this air is expelled abruptly with penile movements.
V.M. should visit her gynaecologist for examination and assessment and if necessary should have vaginal wall repair done to help her rescue her marriage, restore her self-esteem and resolve her depression.
