Justice was served

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I WOULD like to advice the group calling themselves Jamaicans For Justice that the idea of calling for the resignation of Supt. Reneto Adams and the others involved to be removed from front-line duties is not the answer. If Supt Reneto Adams resigns, does this group have someone better than Adams to replace him.

It is quite clear, that these lawmen exhibited heroism by cutting off seven lives. Brutal, yes, but it was their strategic planning that was wrong, not the act to defend innocent citizens and cut off future crime perpetrators. Whether the group wants to recognise it or not society has benefited from this since now gangs will think twice when they realise that all of them can meet their end when they challenge the police.

Meanwhile steps should be implemented to offer training courses for the police to open their minds on how to manoeuvre high levels of crime. If we look at Senior Superintendent Adams' years of experience and exposure, then seeking to put that to an end is backward thinking.

Rather, both himself and others should be offered professional training and related resources to better equip themselves and the Force for crime management. I don't believe that this lobby group knows the meaning of "JUSTICE"

I am etc.,
