KINGSTON crushed St. Catherine by an innings and 46 runs in their feature sixth round Rothmans Surrey Senior Cup cricket match which ended in mid-afternoon at Sabina Park yesterday.

Despite their easy win, Kingston remained second in the standings to Lucas who maintained their lead following a 168-run victory over St. Thomas at Nelson Oval. And neighbours Kensington defeated Police by eight wickets at Elletson Road.

After yesterday's matches, Lucas moved to 26 points from five matches and Kingston 22 but this from six matches.

AT SABINA PARK: Scores - Kingston 257 (Jimmy Adams 118, skipper Nehemiah Perry 73; David Morgan four for 37, Oneil Richards three for 46; St. Catherine 95 and forced to follow on, 116.

Kingston destroyed St. Catherine in their second innings yesterday with their spinners taking all 10 wickets. Leading the way was offspinner Nehemiah Perry who, after taking the first four wickets, finished with five for 36 in 19 overs for match figures of seven for 41.

Resuming at 36 for four in their second innings, St. Catherine fell deeper into trouble when skipper Tamar Lambert was trapped leg before by the young pace bowler Sadiq Phillips for three at 43 for five.

Thereafter, Kingston were always on top, as Raymore Smith was also sent back by Phillips for three, while Bevon Brown was caught at the wicket by Matthew Sinclair off Audley Sanson for five. Only Waterford schoolboy David Morgan with 17 was able to dig in for a time, as Sanson finished with four for 27 off 11 overs, including four maidens, Phillips four for 50 off 10 overs and Perry two for five.

Forced to follow on, St. Catherine hardly fared much better as Perry sent back openers Renford Pinnock Jr and Randy Nelson, both leg before for 16, while Barrington Bartley (three) and David Morgan (nought) went quickly to Perry to leave St. Catherine in deep trouble at 51 for four. They never recovered. Raymore Smith (26), Bevon Brown (17) and Oneil Richards (16) offered token resistance as Perry took four for 36, Kerry Scott three for six, Ryan Cunningham one for 26 and Adams one for 16.

AT ELLETSON ROAD: Jamaica Under-19 player Kevin Peart with match figures of 11 for 97 and Old Harbour High schoolboy Maurice Kepple's two undefeated innings of 67 and 18 respectively, led Kensington to an eight-wicket victory over Police.

Scores: Police 129 (Demetrius Francis 41; Kevin Peart 6-36) and 134 (Denville McKenzie 46, Marvin James 26, Francis 20; Peart 5-61, Brenton Parchment 3-46). Kensington 174 (Maurice Kepple 67 not out, Robert Turner 23, Darren Powell 22, Brenton Parchment 17, Glenmore Hall 16; McKenzie 7-54, Rohan Belight 2-38) and 90 for two (Glenmore Hall 29, Parchment 27, Kepple 18 not out; James 2-19).

Police in their second innings found spinners Peart and Parchment hard to negotiate and were dismissed for 134. McKenzie who was bowled by Powell for 47 was the only batsman to put up any resistance.

Kensington reached their target easily with Parchment scoring 27. The not out batsmen were Maurice Kepple 18 and David Bernard Jr.

AT NELSON OVAL: Lucas crushed St. Thomas by 168 runs.

Scores: Lucas 175 (Gareth Breese 43, Ryan Wellington 28; Rohan McNaught 6-38, Jowayne Robinson 3-71) and 206 for six declared (Kevin Riley 65, Ryan Smith 55; Dennis Gordon 3-44, Jowayne Robinson 2-85) St. Thomas 136 (Paul McFarlane 25, Brain Murphy 22; Omar Burke 4-17, Andrew Gayle 3-21) and 78 (Jameson 16; Burke 2-1, Breese 2-5, Ashuman Kentish 2-29).
