KINGSTON College crushed Edwin Allen 51 to 10, in the Schools' Challenge Quiz 2001, competition last Thursday.
The win secured a second round place for the North Street boys and the team is now thinking about taking home the Schools' Challenge trophy. "We are here with one sole purpose and is to take home the cup. We know we will have a strong challenge from teams like St. Jago High and Ardenne, but with God's help we will make it," K.C captain George Scarlett, 18, told THE STAR.
The other team members were Conrod Perry, 18; Michael Buckland, 15; and Omar Morris,18.
The losers were rather dejected. "We didn't do as well as expected. We could have done better. We missed out on a number of questions and KC who were well prepared was definitely quicker in the buzzer section."
Section One of the competition was clearly a warm up period for KC who were relaxed as they held off Edwin Allen 12 to 9.
The Edwin Allen team did poorly in their first minute in Section Two and didn't improve much in the second or third minute segments leaving the KC team to dominate. At the end of the section the KC team led 29 to 16.
The North Street boys took control of the third section and gave Edwin Allen no chance. The boys showed that they were one of the strongest teams in the competition.
Monday's match will see Queens High against Wolmers Girls High school.
