THE EDITOR, Sir:
On March 6 I left home for work but had to retrace my steps home because I lost a shoe heel. The road is like a gully. I then left again for the bus stop.
On reaching the stop (44 bus) I stood there for one and a half hour without seeing anything like a bus. I therefore had to take a 'robot' taxi because my salary does not allow me to take a real taxi. When last have you seen a taxi in Jamaica? You pay as is charged meter is unheard of. I am now praying for a bus on the Havendale via Whitehall Avenue/Mannings Hill Road route. One bus operates continuously on the route. Yes it is true.
On the morning in question I managed to arrive at work but seeing my colleagues I enquired what was wrong because their faces were all unpleasant. They told me that there was no water. Luckily the water returned within two hours just as we started to settle down the light went. Everything was at a standstill. However, it was not very long before the light came back. Our work day almost came to a close, but one hour prior to closure, we heard gunshots and were forced to close the office prematurely.
Leaving for home I thought was a relief, because of such a miserable day, but alas my purse was taken from my bag while standing at the bus terminus! Now I am left dangling in thin air wondering what to do.
Can someone find me a solution please?
I am, etc.,
