Hot fashion, cool prizes at Youth Link's launch party

It was 'pure vibes' inside Youth Link's launch party on the Gleaner's roof garden on Saturday when bling/hottie fashions and great music took over the building. Hundreds of students ages 13-20 from various high schools across the island tuned in to the main items --- hot clothes complimented by DJs Chico , General Degree and Mr. Lex. Deafening screams shook the building when 'Girls Pet' Mr. Lex was brought on stage by MC 'Vibes Mistress' Jenny Jenny. He was able to keep fans busy with hits like 'Bad Weather Now' and 'Let those monkeys out' before welcoming General Degree. Degree made his way through the 'Traffic Blocking' and made an already warm afternoon reach boiling point before letting Chico take control. Gospel Dj Goddy Goddy, formerly Dj Snake Man then blessed the gathering with prayers before cooking up songs from his new album 'Gospel Kitchen' and had everyone stomping for the Lord and singing along.

The Jonathan Grant Comprehensive High School Dancers too had the over two hundred present looking on in awe with their acrobatic-like movements to the 'Thong Song' by Sisqo in what was a breathtaking performance.

Later, fashion blended with beauty as La Face models Amarsha, Tracy and Susan along with male models Kevin and Greg modeled 'Link Gear' from In Style Fashions which included Youth Link T-shirts and 'tuff' Youth Link bowl hats. But the students got to participate in Jenny Jenny's Hottie Hottie/Bling Fashion and dance competitions and students from Jonathan Grant and Vauxhall Comprehensive high won the girls' and boys' segment respectively. The Dj contest was a blast and Charlemont High student Sheldon 'Juggler' Henry armed with 'wicked' lyrics walked away with a portable CD Player.

Other winners earned pens, diaries, backpacks, T shirts and hats.
