WESTERN BUREAU:
THREE MEN who were alleged to have broken into the home of Esmie Jones, operator of the failed pyramid scheme Speedy Cash Partner Plan, are to return to the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court today to answer charges of burglary and larceny.
The trio appeared in court yesterday when the matter was mentioned. Errol Simpson and Caple Williams were granted bail of $30,000 each while Kelao Che Akwanza Addae's $60,000 bail was extended.
Attorney Trevor HoLyn represented Addae while the other two were not represented.
The court was told that about 9:30 p.m. on March 31 an alarm was raised at the Lot 182 Farm Heights, the home of Mrs. Jones. The police were called and they apprehended the three men.
Addae was allegedly held with items including two blenders, one Gemini surge protector, one blue Yamaha keyboard and a glass centre table.
Simpson was said to have had one pair of blue BX Bachi Exchange jeans pants, one green plastic bucket with 60 clothes pegs, one green rug, a wristwatch and a box containing several pieces of silver costume jewellery.
Nothing was recovered from Williams.
Mrs. Jones is herself in custody in Montego Bay after she was arrested and charged over the past weekend with fraudulent conversion and breaches of the Financial Act and is scheduled to face the court later this week.
Mrs. Jones, who is said to be in her mid-60s, had been on the run since last Wednesday after angry depositors of her failed pyramid scheme threatened to harm her.
Following the outcry, the police stepped up their investigation and Mrs. Jones was picked up by detectives from the Montego Bay CIB at a house in Windsor, St. Elizabeth on Friday evening.
