New Issa resort coming

Issa

SUPERCLUBS IS to launch a new brand of low-cost all-inclusive resorts in October this year called Starfish.

This announcement was made by SuperClubs' executive chairman Hon. John J. Issa, earlier this week at the annual Jamaica Product Exchange (JAPEX) conference in Ocho Rios.

Designed for budget-minded singles, couples and families, Starfish Resorts will adhere to SuperClubs' famed pre-paid all-inclusive vacation concept, but will not be marketed under the SuperClubs brand.

The former Club Jamaica Ocho Rios -- currently closed for renovations after SuperClubs signed a 20-year leasing contract on January 2 - will be the first Starfish resort. Slated to reopen in October 2001, the 90-room resort will be renamed Starfish Ocho Rios.

Trelawny Beach & Fun Resort will be converted into Starfish Trelawny in December 2001. While managed under the SuperClubs umbrella, Starfish Resorts will be marketed separately from the more upscale SuperClubs Super-Inclusive Resorts.

"There is currently a strong demand for budget vacations and Starfish Resorts will meet this market," said Issa. "We've already established our Super-Inclusive product with SuperClubs' Grand Lido, Hedonism and Breezes brands. This venture into a new niche is a natural progression that will utilise our marketing and branding expertise in a fresh, dynamic product that brings Jamaica within reach of value-conscious vacationers."

Offering good value for singles, couples and families, Starfish are three-star all-inclusive resorts where for one up front price, guests can enjoy quality accommodations, most meals, local brand liquor, nightly entertainment and an array of land and non-motorised water sports. Additional facilities available at extra cost include: motorised water sports, such as scuba diving, water skiing, jet skiing and parasailing; spa and beauty treatments; rock climbing wall and circus workshops, with trapeze and juggling lessons and trampoline clinics.

In addition, Starfish will feature children's programmes at the Kids Club, with supervised activities including Jungle Gym Playground, arts and crafts centres and trampoline lessons, where children can participate with their peers from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Baby sitting services are available at additional cost.

Wedding packages are available for a supplemental fee of US$350 (or US$300 for renewal of vows), and includes: services of resident wedding co-ordinator, minister's fees, wedding cake, flowers, marriage license, wine, plus manicure and pedicure for the bride, and body massage for the groom.

SuperClubs, the world's only Super-inclusive resort group, includes properties in three brand categories, including: SuperClubs Grand Lido Resorts - Grand Lido Negril, Grand Lido Sans Souci, and Grand Lido Braco, all in Jamaica; SuperClubs Breezes Resorts - Breezes Runaway Bay and Breezes Montego Bay in Jamaica; Breezes Bahamas; Breezes Costa Do Sauipe in Brazil; Breeze Varadero, Breezes Jibacoa and Breezes Costa Verde in Cuba; and SuperClubs Hedonism Resorts - Hedonism II in Negril and Hedonism III in Runaway Bay, both in Jamaica, SuperClubs also has a fourth property in Cuba, SuperClubs Puntarena; with two others under development: Grand Lido Varadero, and Breezes Cavo Coco; plus one under development in St. Kitts: Grand Lido St. Kitts-Nevis.
