A citation for Luciano

Luciano

LUCIANO WAS last week presented with a citation by Jamaica's Ambassador to the United States Dr. Richard Bernal in honour of Luciano's contribution to the development of Jamaica's arts and culture.

The artiste was passing through the United States capital Washington DC as part of his North American tour to promote his new album A New Day, for VP Records.

Luciano is currently touring the United States along with his entourage of Mikey General, Junior Kelly, his band the Firehouse Crew and management team headed by Copeland Forbes. The group has been having a very successful tour so far.

Two weekends ago they played at the House of Blues in Chicago where over 500 patrons had to be turned away. That event was attended by members of the Nation of Islam, who had invited the singer to Chicago last year to perform for their leader, Minister Louis Farrakhan.

Luciano also appeared in Toronto where the two dates were sold out. The concerts were web cast and can be viewed on the web site prime ticket.com. The tour ends on Mother's Day, May 13, in New York.

Speaking to The Gleaner while the tour crossed states, Forbes said the citation from Dr. Bernal was very reassuring.

"It made the artiste feel special. It is never easy being out on the road for long spells and when someone like your own Ambassador takes time out to pay respect to your efforts, it's just overwhelming. It has given the whole group another lift and reinvigorated the commitment to keep carrying Jamaica's music across this continent," he said.
