JAMAICA IS "the greener grass" for many nationals of other countries.

According to The Jamaica Gazette, an official publication of the Jamaican government, 246 foreign nationals were recently granted Jamaican citizenship. In addition, 43 others were registered as naturalised citizens and 26 were granted citizenship under Section 10 of the Jamaica Nationality Act, 1962.

The newly-registered citizens are from: China, the USA, the UK, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy, Russia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Norway and Ireland.

Also, they come from Nigeria, Swaziland, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, Guinea-Bissau, Zambia, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar (Burma), and the Lebanon.

Nearer home, others are from: Cuba, Colombia, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Grenada, Haiti, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, the Turks and Caicos and Belize.

Some may have lived in Jamaica for several years and have just now become naturalised citizens.
