THE EDITOR, Sir:

I WRITE on behalf of the executive of Young Jamaica, the youth arm of the Jamaica Labour Party. We are in full support of the position being taken by the Human Rights Group Amnesty International in its effort to force the government to order an independent investigation in the recent shooting in Braeton, St. Catherine, which left seven young men dead.

The killing of those seven young men by members of the security force is alarming and warrants an immediate and thorough independent investigation by high level investigators, so that the facts can be presented to the public about what really occurred in Braeton that morning.

I am etc.,

MARK J. RODNEY

General Secretary
