Stray cow tramples woman

SPANISH TOWN,

St. Catherine:

MRS. ILINE Ford, 64, of Portsmouth, Portmore, south east Catherine, was trampled by a stray cow in that community while on her way from church recently and is now in hospital with seven broken ribs.

Mrs. Ford, who is recovering in the Kingston Public Hospital was walking with her husband about 10 o'clock the night when she was attacked by the lone stray cow.

According to her husband, a senior executive member of the Portsmouth Citizens' Association, a group that has been calling for the removal of stray animals from the streets of Portmore, his wife could have been killed if it wasn't for swift action.

Mr. Ford said the cow weighing about 500 pounds was "all over her on the ground.

Arising from the incident, residents of Portmore are once again calling on the St. Catherine Parish Council to impound the stray animals on the streets of Portmore.
