Jerry Springer arrives in fine style

Members of the entertainment department of Hedonism II, Negril, organised a Jerry Springer dance lesson for the American talk show host, who is at the property to tape his show. WESTERN BUREAU:

WEALTHY AMERICAN talk show host, Jerry Springer, flew into Montego Bay on Tuesday aboard his private jet, accompanied by two pilots. But when the time came for him to get on a domestic flight operated by International Airlinc, from the second city to Negril, where he will be taping his show, Springer took a back seat. Instead he suggested that his chief security officer, Al Perales, go upfront.

"Life is too short to be fussy. Those things are unimportant. Any seat is fine with me", he told The Gleaner on arrival at the airport.

Seemingly uncertain of flying an American aircraft over Cuban air space, the crew opted to travel to Jamaica over Mexico.

"We flew the Cancun route," they told The Gleaner.

Springer, who is on his second trip to Jamaica in three years, said he was excited to be back. "I love this country, I would love to live here".

When asked if the island was big enough to accommodate him and the type of show he produced, he said: "Size doesn't matter, the beautiful women who live here are far more important".

On his first night in the island, he was hosted to a Bohemian cocktail reception in the beautifully decorated squash court lawn at Hedonism II, Negril, where the taping of his show will take place. The highlight of the evening was the surprise Jerry Springer dance lesson put on by the hotel's entertainment department.

The talk show host practised the dance routine, but at times seemed to be doing routines outside of the dance named after him by its creator, Bogle. His interpretation saw him gyrating the waistline, with hands behind the head, elbows at a 180-degree and doing a 'diagonal' twist.
